INTERPRETING...

We offer a wide variety of interpreting services for the legal profession and the medical field, including interpreters for business meetings, conferences and seminars, personal interpreting, tour guides and conference calls. All of our interpreters are specially selected and many of them are qualified by the State Department. In addition, we can provide technical equipment for simultaneous interpreting, including qualified technicians to set-up and monitor our systems.

Our interpreters have knowledge in many areas, but are not expected to be experts in all fields. In order to familiarize themselves with the terminology of a particular topic, it is highly suggested that you supply one or more of the following well in advance of the event, to allow time for preparation and to have the interpreter present the best job possible:

1. Drafts of any formal speeches, papers, etc.
2. Copies of any graphic material to be presented.
3. Minutes of previous meetings regarding the subject to be presented.
4. Recent publications on the same subject.

We will take the utmost care in regard to interpreting within the normal context of interpreting and will deal with any questions or complaints in good faith. Other than correcting errors, our liability does not extend to any consequential damages. Your signature on the Quotation and Authorization form indicates and confirms that you agree to these liability limitations, that you are authorized to give this assignment to GLOBAL TRANSLATION CENTER and that you are responsible for all consequences arising from any possible breach of copyright.

Consecutive Interpreting

We can provide interpreting services in the following areas:

  • Mediations
  • Sightseeing

  • Hearings
  • Tours

  • Depositions
  • Trade shows

  • Jury and non-jury trials
  • Real estate closings

  • Extraditions
  • Negotiations
  • Medical examinations
  • Mergers

  • Insurance investigations
  • Business meetings

  • Conference calls
  • Personal representatives

Consecutive interpreting is used when interpreting for individuals or small groups. We strongly recommend that any legal interpreting be done consecutively, since it is more accurate and more reliable. Depositions, and other legal interpreting are done in the 1st person singular, to avoid stenographic legal problems. Our interpreters take their work seriously. They are professionals in conduct and appearance and act as reliable and neutral intermediaries.

 Simultaneous Interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting is a skilled profession which calls for extensive knowledge of the source and target languages. It is used when the speaker does not pause for the interpreter. The emphasis is on general content, not necessarily on exact detail. Due to the extreme pressure on simultaneous interpreters, performance standards usually include 2 interpreters per language.
